Description
This is a very high-quality patriotic pin. A two-mark silver coin, measuring 1″ in diameter, was used. The obverse shows the Kaiser and Kaiserin in profile. The Kaiser is wearing his Regiment Garde du Corps helmet with its Hohenzollern Eagle. Around the edges we see that the coin was produced in 1901 to celebrate the House of Hohenzollern’s 200th anniversary. On the reverse is a beautiful Hohenzollern Eagle with outspread wings and a crown. Around the edges we see the caption “Deutsches Reich 1901 Zwei Mark.” The coin is inserted in a handsome, highly-detailed frame. It has a fine pin on the reverse with which to attach the patriotic piece to a garment. The pin’s overall diameter is 1 1/2.” $225.00
