Description
The S. M. S. Frithjof was a part of coastal defense ships’ “Siegfried” Class. She was commissioned in 1893 at the beginning of the Kaiserliche Marine’s “battleship era.” She was modernized early in the 20th Century, but in reality she did not have sufficient artillery to be a real threat. When WW I began, she was used for coastal defense. By 1916 she was deemed insufficient for that and was converted to a floating barracks. After the war, she was scrapped. The color postcard’s reverse displays NO marks, nor was a message written.
