Description
This is a large-format original photograph that measures 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2.” It shows an observation balloon in the field. Her ground crew is gathered under her as the balloon is being readied for flight. Gas has not yet been pumped into the bag. Iron Crosses can be seen on both sides of the balloon. The reverse features a penciled date, 28 March 1918, barely two weeks before the war’s end.
