This is a large-format original photograph that measures 4 3/4″ x 7.” It shows an observation balloon in the field. Her ground crew is gathered under her. The balloon either is ready for its launch or has just been reeled in. This photograph, while showing a bit of the balloon and gondola, concentrates more on the men on the ground. Center stage is a visiting general officer. The reverse features penciled information on the balloon and its unit.
