Stan Stokes is one of today’s premier WW I aviation artists. We are offering a signed and numbered print of his “Moonlight Renegade.” The limited edition print is number 2041/4750, and measures 11 ½” x 16.” The print’s subject is Zeppelin L-48’s raid over England on 16 June 1917. The L-48 was a part of a larger zeppelin raiding party that evening. British pilot Captain Robert Saundby led a more than three hour chase of the zeppelin until the L-48 was shot down in flames. Amazingly, two L-48 crew members survived the attack, the only zeppelin crew members to ever survive being shot down.
The moment of the explosion is caught in this print. Included with it is a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) that describes the evening’s action.
