This is a postcard of the Battleship S. M. S. Zähringen. She was commissioned in 1902 and was outmoded by the beginning of WW I. She was a part of the “Wittelsbach” battleship class. She served in minor roles during the war, but saw no combat. She is seen steaming in to port. The postcard’s right side features a kriegsflagge, and the Kingdom of Baden’s flag and the ship’s name. The postcard was never mailed, but a message dated 1915 appears on the reverse.
