ORIGINAL AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHS FOLIO

$495.00

This is a folio of original aviation photographs. Although they are not contained in an album, they are housed in a clear plastic folio. It features openings that render them easy to remove, and view on both the obverse and reverse. The folio contains seventeen large-format photos that measure 5” x 7.” It also has twenty-nine small-format photos that are approximately postcard-sized. Three actual postcards, and a menu round out the selection.
The photos feature a number of shots of airplanes on the ground and in the air. One particular photo shot from a plane highlights an observation balloon. Poses of air crews are included, as well as a very haunting photo of a crashed plane with its pilot’s body lying on a wall beside it. A German soldier stands guard over the fallen airman and his airplane. Most of these photos come from Flieger-Abteilung Nr 212. It is a fine collection with plenty of research opportunities for those interested. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find this many aviation-related photos in one place. Collectors in Germany snap them up as quickly as they find them.
