Description
This is a rare Leutnant’s parade attila from the Königl. Sachs Husaren-Regiment Nr 19, which was attached to the XIX. Armeekorps. The tunic is a beautiful light blue color with magnificent silver tresses and frogging that sport a lovely patina, as does the collar and cuff’s bullion tape. The collar’s bullion is particularly elaborate and extends to the collar’s reverse. A total of ten rosette-style buttons adorn the front of the tunic, with five toggle buttons securing it when buttoned. The two sewn-in shoulder boards marked the tunic as a Leutnant, with green chevrons confirming that they are from Saxony.
The tunic’s reverse continues the tresses’ theme from the front, with two additional barrel buttons adorning the vent area. Although the tunic’s overall condition is quite good, it has more mothing than we would normally offer. However, this is reflected in the final price, making the tunic a great bargain. The mothing is scattered, with one larger nip appearing high up on the chest’s right side, just under the shoulder board. There are also a few period field repairs that have been stitched up to lessen the effects of a tear, adding character to the tunic.
Inside the tunic, two tones of shiny cotton appear. This is a very interesting piece of military dress attire, and a difficult-to-find Saxon dress attila. Add this rare piece of historical artifact to your collection today.
