Description
This is a lovely patriotic pendant/locket that features the photo portraits of a soldier and his sweetheart or wife on opposite sides. It measures 1 1/4″ x 1.” The colorized portrait photos are enclosed in a gold-toned circlet, which is further enclosed within a stylized heart. The heart’s top “bows” feature scalloped, gold-toned shapes dripping down from them, while its bottom section rather resembles an anchor’s point. (Whether this meant the man was involved with the Navy, or it was just Art Deco styling, who knows)? A tiny replica of a 1914 Iron Cross decorates the pendant just below the jump ring at the heart’s top. Both photos have some age damage to them. The man appears to be in civilian dress, so he may have survived the war. It is very touching
German patriotic jewelry, rings, lockets, pendants, and necklaces are a very sentimental category. Each time we are fortunate to receive patriotic jewelry it always seems to come with its own personality. We imagine how this piece was worn by its owner to show their patriotism and support.
