Description
This is a postcard of the Battleship S. M. S. Kaiser Friedrich der Große. She was commissioned in 1912 and was a part of the four-ship Kaiser Klasse. She saw extensive service as part of Battleship Squadron Nr 3, including the Battle of Jutland (Skagerrakschlacht). She was scuttled in 1919 at Scapa Flow along with the bulk of Germany’s newer and larger ships. The postcard is very decorative. It includes a kriegsflagge in its upper left corner and patriotic sayings. The postcard was issued for the German Red Cross’ benefit. It was never mailed.
