POSTCARD – BAVARIA’S PRINZ LEOPOLD

This postcard shows Prinz Leopold of Bavaria (1846-1930). In addition to being a royal during WW I, he was a very able commander. He was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall in 1906. During WW I, he was one of the German Army’s most decorated officers. He received both the Pour le Mérite and the Oak Leaves to the PLM. He appears, along with a large number of officers, before a Warsaw palace on 9 August 1915. They are all mounted. This was mailed as a Feldpostkarte a month later from Warsaw.
