Description
This is a postcard of the Kleiner Kreuzer (light cruiser) S. M. S. Hamburg. She was a part of the Bremen Kleiner Kreuzer Klasse. During the 20th Century’s first ten years she was in constant use as a escort ship for Kaiser Wilhelm II’s royal yacht, the S. M. Y. Hohenzollern. During WW I she served as a U-Boot flotilla commander’s flagship during operations around Helgoland Island and the Battle of Jutland (Skagerrak). The postcard depicts the S. M. S. Hamburg cruising under power and in profile. It was never used.
