This postcard shows Kronprinz Rupprecht of Bavaria (1869-1955). He was King Ludwig III’s eldest son. During WW I, he rose to the rank of Generalfeldmarschall in 1916. His command was Armeegruppe Rupprecht, which consisted of four armies. He was a most able commander. He is seen here prior to WW I in uniform and holding a pickelhaube. The postcard was not mailed.
