This postcard shows Prinzessin Adelheid (1891-1971). She was the wife of Prinz Adalbert (1884-1948). One of Kaiser Wilhelm II’s six sons, he was the only son to serve in the Kaiserliche Marine. Adelheid married Prince Adalbert in August 1914 (during the beginning of WWI). Less than a month after their marriage, Prince Adalbert was reported to have been killed in battle in Brussels. It was only a rumor however, and the Prince was unharmed.
