Description
This postcard shows Prinzessin Marie-Auguste of Anhalt (1898-1983). Her husband was Prinz Joachim (1890-1920), Kaiser Wilhelm II’s sixth and youngest son. Prinz Joachim could not reconcile himself with the monarchy’s end. First, his marriage collapsed into divorce. Then, in 1920, he committed suicide. He was only twenty-nine. This postcard of Marie-Auguste is from a (hopefully) happier time before the Empire fell.
