PRUSSIA – STATUE – ATTRIBUTED TO OBSERVER – OBERLEUTNANT E. KOCH

This is an interesting statue that is attributed to Prussian observer Oberleutnant E. Koch. He flew with 1. Flieger Bataillone in Posen.

At the very top we see mounted to a small brass pedestal a magnificent Eagle with wide spread wings. The wing span of the Eagle measures and the width is X”. While the Eagle is secure on his brass pedestal, there is a bit of a wiggle to it so care must be taken when handling. Once secured in your place of honor, you’ll not notice it.  The Eagle is mounted atop a wooden base which is broad at te bottom and narrows at the top. This wooden base measures X” tall. It also measures X” at the base and X” at the top.

At the top of this wooden base we see a full size Prussian observer badge. The enamel is intact. I believe the badge is the top half only as it does not appear to be thick enough for a full badge even if the pin were removed. Below the badge there is a brass scroll like plaque which reads:

Zur Erinnerung
en meine Dientzeit
1914 Oberleutnant E. Koch 1916
1/ Flg. Btl. Posen

At the bottom of the statue is a wooden base. Attached to that is another brass plaque which says:

Für Gott Kaiser und Vaterland

This is a wonderful artifact to an officer who served in a well known unit in Posen. Attributed items like this are very difficult to obtain and we are pleased to share it with you.
