Max Ritter von Mulzer (1893-1916) was an early Bavarian ace. He served in FFA 62 along with Oswald Boelcke and Max Immelmann. He was awarded his PLM after eight victories in 1916. He was the first Bavarian to receive the PLM. He was killed in an airplane crash due to a structural failure in September 1916 with a total of ten victories. He was also knighted by Bavaria and carried the title of Max Ritter von Mulzer to his death. This pose shows him in a studio wearing a tunic similar to an ulanka. Prior to his transfer to the Air Service, he served in Chevaguler-Regiment Nr 8 who wore similar tunics. On his tunic he wears the PLM at his throat, the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class and the Bavarian Pilot Badge. The postcard was not mailed.
