SAXONY – POSTCARD – KING ALBERT
This is a seldom seen postcard of King Friedrich August Albert Anton Ferdinand Joseph Karl Maria Baptist Nepomuk Wilhelm Xaver Georg Fidelis
(In English Frederick Augustus Albert Anthony Ferdinand Joseph Charles Maria Baptist Nepomuk William Xavier George Fidelis) 1828-1902. He ruled the Kingdom of Saxony from 1854-1902. He was the ruler of Saxony during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
This pose shows him in the pickelhaube of a Saxon general without parade feathers. At his throat is the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross from the Franco-Prusssian war. He has a magnificent beard with muttonchops. I would date this photo from 1895-1902. This postcard is in mint condition and has never been mailed.
