PRUSSIA – SHOULDER BOARD – GENERAL der INFANTERIE – KAISER WILHELM II’S ROYAL CYPHER

$995.00

This is a single shoulder board for a General der Infanterie. It measures 1 ¾” x 4 ¾” and was intended to be worn on the tunic as opposed to the mantle. It predates the M-1915 feldgrau shoulder boards. Kaiser Wilhelm II’s crowned royal cypher and the General der Infanterie’s twin pips are gilt. Alternating rows of gold and silver bullion rope form the boards’ base to which the crowned cypher and pips are attached. The silver bullion ropes display the black chevrons that identify the shoulder board as Prussian.
Its reverse features a red felt backing. The tongue that makes it a slip-on shoulder board is in place. Its overall condition rates at about average, with wear showing on the silver and bullion ropes. The gilt crowned cypher and twin pips exhibit a fine burnished patina.
