Description
This is a small circular tin box that commemorates König Friedrich August III of Saxony. He was the final House of Wettin King to hold that position. He resigned his position in 1918 with the rest of Germany’s royals. The box is circular and measures 1 ½” x 2 3/4.” One side shows the King in dress uniform. While it is clear who is in the image, some loss of paint makes him a bit harder to discern. The other side displays an image of the city of Meissen (home to Europe’s oldest porcelain factory). Unfortunately, the “Meissen” city image’s condition is not good. It is still an interesting piece for one who enjoys the history of Meissen and Saxony.
