Description
This is a really great item for those of you who are generally interested in cavalry, and particularly in Husaren material.
It is probably a veteran’s stickpin from a Prussian Husaren-Regiment. Often when a man retired from active army duty, he looked for ways to display his patriotism and former service. Here we have an oversized stickpin that measures 1/4″ in diameter.
The stickpin displays three different enamel colors: red, white, and black. It features a busby, complete with parade bush and feldzeichen (field badge), as well as a säbeltasche directly below it. The latter is clearly Prussian (You cannot see enough detail to determine that from the busby’s wappen). A sword extends through the busby and säbeltasche.
The entire arrangement is quite handsome. A fine, knurled pin is attached that allowed the veteran to place it through his tie when he was wearing a suit. The manufacturer did a good job of presenting this arrangement in a limited space.
