It measures 16 1/2″ x 11 3/4.” The following words are written on it in an elaborate script, “Im Glauben an Deutschland werden wir das Schicksal meistern Adolf Hitler in München am 12. September 1923. Urkunde. Reid hat die Grund und Hauptschule mit Erfolg besucht. Der Schulleiter:” (Believing in Germany, we will overcome fate. Adolf Hitler in Munich on 12 September 1923. AWARD. ________ passed elementary and secondary school with success. The head teacher:). It is a school document that quotes Hitler’s September 1923 speech (before the “Beer Hall Putsch”). The student’s name is written in, as is the date, 20 März 1937, and the head teacher’s name. It is decorated with an elaborate Albrecht Dürer engraving of a medieval knight (probably St. George) standing over a slain dragon. The document’s right-hand side is somewhat foxed and curled. It is an interesting item from between the wars.
