Description
This is a paperweight for the Volkerschlacht Denkmal bei Leipzig. The monument (more precisely, monument and gardens) was established in 1913 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the war between the various German states and Napoleon Bonaparte’s France. I was privileged to visit the monument in Leipzig. It is quite stirring. Kaiser Wilhelm II was present for the ceremony. This paperweight is eight-sided, measuring 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ x 3/4.” It is substantial and in perfect condition. It sports a black leather pad on its bottom. The monument proper is shown under glass for viewing.
