Description
This is a most unusual guest towel, which was hung in the bathroom to “make pretty” for guests. When I first saw this, I thought it was a table scarf. Then I saw a loop sewn onto the towel’s edge so it could be hung from a hook. This allowed one to display its marvelous exterior. Towels are hung like this in Germany today, to dry one’s hands on at the sink. The towel measures 20 1/2″ x 18 1/2.” It is woven in a handsome gray, red and white damask pattern. Three central panels alternate zeppelin and balloon motifs. This towel is in mint condition. From the looks of it, it was never used. You will be struck by the caliber of this towel. I believe it would be very difficult to produce such a superior towel today.
